The Duke of Rothesay Opens The Sail Loft Bunkhouse

The Duke of Rothesay officially opened The Sail Loft on Tuesday 13th June, just days after flash flooding hit the four star accommodation facility.

Despite heavy rainfall and flash flooding the week prior to his organised visit, Prince Charles was determined to keep the engagement and visited the buildings.

During a tour of the Sail Loft, His Royal Highness met donors, supporters and members of the restoration team who facilitated the conversion of the 18th century sailmaking facility and associated cottages into the new 25 bed bunkhouse

Unveiling a specially designed plaque to officially open the bunkhouse and commemorate his visit, the Duke of Rothesay said: “I would like to add my warmest congratulations to the team who worked to make this project come to fruition despite all the challenges.”

Local school children also joined the celebrations, greeting His Royal Highness in song whilst waving flags during the visit.
